Joseph WAITE was born 26 May 1717 at Rhode Island. (EWT) He was the son of Joseph WAITE and Elizabeth SHEFFIELD. Joseph died 1743/1744 at North Kingston, RI, at the age of 25. [EWT gives two birth dates for this Joseph. The second is 16 Jun 1717 at North Kingston. She also includes a note that his birth date would indicate his father had a wife prior to Elizabeth.] Joseph died during the summer of 1744. His estate was probated 13 Jun 1744 at North Kingston RI. The town of Exeter granted administration papers on the estate of Joseph WAITE to widow Elizabeth WAITE on this date. On 5 Apr 1763 Elizabeth DAVIS of West Greenwich conveyed to Reuben WAITE land there that had formerly belonged to Joseph WAITE deceased. (EWT). He married Elizabeth GIFFORD 8 Nov 1737. (EWT) She was born 1720. (EWT) Elizabeth died 27 Feb 1810 (EWT) at the age of 90. "Elizabeth was the d/o Yelverton & Ann (NORTHRUP) GIFFORD. 28 Dec 1713/4 Jamestown RI and the gd/o John & Elishu (CROWELL) GIFFORD. John was the s/o William GIFFORD who died 19 Apr 1687 at Sandwich MA. Elishu CROWELL/CROWE was the d/o Elisha & Yelverton CROWE. Ann NORTHRUP was the d/o Stephen s/o Joseph & Elizabeth NORTHRUP." (EWT) Elizabeth also married (2) William DAVIS 6 Nov 1749 at West Greenwich, RI. (EWT) He was born 1723. (EWT) William died 25 Sep 1805 (EWT) at the age of 82.
