The following is from the pension  file of Samuel Rhoades, (pension no. W. 4319). 

Revolutionary War pension claim, W. 4319, it appears that Samuel Rhoades, Rhoads, Roads, Rhodes, the son of Samuel and Abigail Rhoades of Dedham, Massachusetts, enlisted in the War of the Revolution at Roxbury and also Shutesbury, Massachusetts, and was allowed pension for two years service as a private in the Massachusettes Troops, on his application executed March 27, 1818, at which time, he was a resident of Sandy Hill, Kingston Township, Washington County, New York, aged sixty-six years, and he died there Feburary 9, 1832.

  Soldier married November 21, 1774, Mary, daughter of Obadiah Morse of Dedham, Massachusettes, she died November 22, 1837 in Guilford Township, Medina County, Ohio, aged about eighty-two years.

  Heirs in 1838 were Jesse (relationship not stated), son Elias and daughter, Irena born February 12, 1780 and was the wife of Solomon Rhoades.

Remarks: He was probably born in the town of Dedham, Mass., and during the wr resided there and in Shutesbury, Mass., afterwards in Pelham, Mass. And Fort Anne, Sandy Hill, and Kingsbury, NY.  Married Mary Morse at Walpole, Mass., Nov. 24, 1774 and died Feb. 9, 1832.
