Albert H. Rhodes was born in Fayette County, Tenn., August 20, 1848, and is of a family of twelve children born to William and Elizabeth (Moore) Rhodes, our subject, one brother and a sister being the surviving members.  The parents were natives of North Carolina and were married there, and in 1836 moved to Fayette County, Tenn., locating near the present Fayette Corners, where they resided until they died.  The father when young received good educational advantages, having graduated at Chapel Hill College, North Carolina, and afterward received his medical diploma at Madison Medical College, at Philadelphia.  He practiced his profession for many years in Fayette County, then retired and gave his time to agricultural pursuits until his death in January, 1871.  The mother died November, 1870.  Albert H. Rhodes remained at home until his parents died, then in 1872 attended the Baptist University at Murfreesboro, Tenn., then returned to Fayette County, making his home with a relative until October 27, 1880, when he married Mary Lou Johnson, a native of Hardeman County.  Three sons have been born to them, all living:  William Albert, Thomas Whitson, and Gaston HarveyMr. Rhodes has the old home tract of 227 acres , and also owns two other tracts in Fayette County, one of fifty acres and one of 212.  He is a member of the Baptist Church and Mrs. Rhodes of the Methodist.  His political support is given to the Democratic party.  Two of Mr. Rhodes' brothers, Jno. M. and Benjamin Rhodes, were in the Confederate Army, and died of exposure, John M. at Lauderdale Springs, Miss., and Benjamin at New Madrid.  Mr. Rhodes is an industrious, upright man, of good social standing, and a prominent church member.
