Jesse Rhoads Family . About 1700. The Jesse Rhoads family were among the first colony of immigrants coming to America from Germany. Their first home was in North Carolina. A grandson. Adam Rhoads. married Susan Fox of North Carolina in 1818. and had three boys. Balsor. John, and Beaton. Hie family moved to Fayette County. IN. and in 1820, to Marion Township in Shelby County. Thc youngest son, Beaton. had five children. Lewis. Nancy B.. John Lemon. Enoch (killed in 1863 at Battle of Crooked Creek. AL, and Anderson. This youngest son, Anderson Rhoads. married Nancy Ann Linville (daughter of Sarah Linville 1859. Nancy was to tell her grandchildren of life in a log cabin at the confluence of Foreman's Branch and Coffee Creek. Anderson and Nancy Rhoads had five children, Albert, Alice May. Esta (father of Merrill), Sadie, and Estella. This youngest daughter. Estella. married George Holden Weimar who worked at the "Dinky" as a furniture maker. They established their home at 354 W. Franklin Street, where they were to live the rest of their lives. To Estella and George Weimar were born three sons. Ernest and Karl., twins, and William. All three married; Ernest to Freda Worland daughter of Cary and Ira Worland; Earl to Marie Miley: and William to Lucille Rootle and after her death, to Edna Murphy, a widow from Gwynneville. This generation is now all deceased. Ernest and Freda had two daughters, both still in Shelbyville Manlyn Jean who married Herbert b: McCabe and alter his death. Harlan W. Hcndrick who was an Army Lt. Colonel. They have a son Harlan W. Jr. "Pix" who now lives in Michigan with his wife and son. The second daughter was Ruth Ann who married Dale Oliver Monroe (son of Oliver Perry and Pearl Watson Monroe. Mill living) and had two children. Douglas Dale Monroe lives in Bloomington with his wife and three children, and Cheri Ann Monroe who married Raymond J. Barrett. Jr. (son of Raymond J. and Margaret Barrett) still lives in Shelbyville.
