The Back Rhodes of Our Genealogy
We hope you find your missing links among ours
Cindy Nelson () emailed me after visiting Woodlawn Cemetary in Bloomington (Blooming Grove), Illinois, see the photos below. Her significant other is a descendant of Ebenezer Rhodes on his mother's side: Ebenezer Rhodes > Jeremiah & Mathurza (Johnson) Rhodes > John Francis Rhodes & Sarah (West) Rhodes > Luella (Rhodes) Hill > Lucile Mae (Hill) Haggard > Alan Lee Haggard. They took pictures of the graves of Ebenezer and his wife Mary Starr Rhodes, and those of Jeremiah and Mathurza. They also took a pictures of the cemetary gates. The old cemetary is hidden from view and the old wooden bridge that allowed access from the road is gone. In order to get there you must enter through a private driveway that is adjacent to the cemetary.
Ebenezer and his wife's markers are still there but are broken and propped up against stones that were placed behind them.
Old road that once led to the cemetery
Ebenezer Rhodes' grave and next to it is his wife who it appears to read, lived to 96 years.
Mathurza Rhodes wife of Jeremiah Rhodes
