John Rhodes, dealer in agricultural implements, is a native of New York, born in St. Lawrence county, December 12th, 1837. In 1856, came with his parents to Point Douglas and soon after to Hastings. He was for some thne engaged in the merchandise and agricultural machinery business. Subsequently speculated in wheat until 1864. He then entered the army as commissary clerk, and after serving eleven months, returned to Hastings and again began dealing in farm machinery, at which he has since continued.
