  Daniel Gaines married first Mary Forbes, daughter of James and Katherine Forbes of East Hartford, and secondly Sarah deWolf, a widow. His mother, Mrs. Anna (Burnham) Gaines, conveyed land to him in 1711 and again in 1716. In 1727 Daniel gaines conveyed to Joseph Roberts land and a dwelling place at Hartford, east of the Connecticut River. It does not appear that Daniel gaines acquired any other land at Hartford. In 1747 he is called "late of Hartford".
