Know all men that we George Goode William Hillis & Christopher Rhodes are
held and firmly bound to James Monroe Govenor of the Commonwealth of Virginia
or his successor in sum of one hundred and fifty Dollars for which payment well
and truly to be made we bind ourselves our heirs Exors & c jointly & severally
firmly by these presents. Witness our hands and seals this 23rd Day of
December 1799.
The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas there is a marriage shortly intended to be solemnized between the above bound George Goode
& Jean Rhodes daughter of Christopher Rhodes of Rockbridge County
If therefore there shall be no lawful Cause to obstruct the same then this
obligation to be void or else to remain in full force.

Christopher Rhodes appeared before me a Justice of the Peace for said
County & made Oath that from the information of his parents his sister Jean
Rhodes who is about to intermarry with George Good is above the age of Twenty
one years, and also from his own knowledge- That said marriage is with the
consent of Christopher Rhodes his father that said Jean is and has been a resident of said County for upwards of one year, and that no fraud or collusion
is about to be practised for obtaining a Marriage License therefor-- given
under my hand this 24 day of Decemr 1799
