Big John Casto's wife, Sara McDade. Her father, Jesse McDade was killed by Indians. He killed 7 Indians with a hand spike before they killed him. The fight took place at the big bend in the Ohio River about 1690.

Know ye, That Edward Casto, a private of Captain J E McCoy's Company (R) 13th Regiment of West Va Infantry Volunteers, who was enrolled on the 1st day of September one thousand eight hundred and sixty three to serve three years or during the war, is hereby discharged from the service of the United States this twenty fifth day of May 1865 at Gallipolis, Ohio by reason of Govt orders no. 77 A.G.O.C.S. No objection to his being reinlisted is known to exist.
Said Edward Casto was born in Jackson in the state of Virginia is 24 years of age, five feet eleven inches high, fair complexion, blue eyes, fair hair, and by occupation when enrolled, a Farmer.
Given at Gallipolis, O this Twenty fifth day of May 1865.
