Sylvester d: Rhodes was born December 01, 1842 at Plains, PA.   His father John and mother Mary Rothrock Rhodes.

Entered Service in the US Army from Wilkes-Barre, PA.  Rose to Captain in Co. d: 61st PA.  He earned The Medal of Honor During the Civil War For heroism September 22, 1864 at Fisher's Hill, VA. SEE: Sylvester Rhodes, Sergeant, Company D, 61st Pennsylvania Infantry, awarded Medal of Honor

Died: August 29, 1904 at the age of 61
