M. E. Jones was born July 4, 1864, in the town of Ithaca and educated in the common schools. After leaving school he learned the miller's trade, going into partnership with J. E. Van Natta, then went to Ohio, and built a hundred barrel mill for the North Jackson Milling Co. Our subject married at the age of twenty six May Rhodes, daughter of George Rhodes, of Ithaca. He is a Republican in politics, and takes an active and intelligent interest in church and school matters. In March, 1892, he bought the Pugsley farm of seventy acres, where he now resides, raising the usual farm crops of hay, grain and stock. Also he makes a specialty of lumbering, cutting pine and hemlock, for which he finds a ready market in Ithaca. Mr. Jones is known as an energetic and prosperous young farmer.
