Thomas was engineer of the first steam packet that went out of hull. in his early life he was a sailor
during the wars he was cast into French prisons three times and suffered much hardship.
each time he was released when there was prisoner exchanged.in later life he was engineer of the steamer Dredge belonging to the Hull Dock Company. B Rhodes pub. 1903
