1794 and before May 1800. Leah was daug of John PORTIS (D.June 1794) & his wife
Sarah ?. In a petition to the Halifax Superior Court, 5 May 1800, the full text
of the will of John PORTIS was given. Twice in the body of this will he names
his daughter Leah PORTIS.
The estate states that "Leah PORTIS has intermarried with James ARRINGTON."
James ARRINGTON JR had three sons & one daughter by his first marriage and four
sons and one daughter by his second marriage. (Warren Co NC Will book 41, page
190)
