  William H. Brown was wounded in the Valley Campaign during the Civil War and had to be brought home. The other brothers being in the war, there was no one to brave the dangers. So Oscar L. Brown, son Bernard L. Brown, a boy of about 12 years with a colored servant in the family carriage made the hazardous trip and brought him safely home. William H. Brown d. 7/28/190___.
