From Fred:
Information from the wife of Otto Rhodes, Gertie Jett Rhodes, said the Robert Rhodes family went to the "Poor Farm" in Putman County WV and later some of the children was placed in foster homes or adopted as was my mother Nellie Rhodes by Matthew Robinson family.
Aunt Gertie said the reason the Robert Rhodes family ended up on the poor farm because Robert had” rickets” and couldn’t work the farm. I don’t know when he died and where he is buried. Same with Rebecca Rhodes. Could have been at the “poor farm” in Putnam County. Aunt Gertie said Rebecca Jane Rhodes had to iron clothes all day or work in the gardens at the “poor farm”
Story is that Rebbecca "took" up housekeeping near Clendenin ("Big Sandy?)
The other children Levi born 1881 ( I'll have get back on his marriages. I have a Cobb first then is marked out and a Sandy Rhodes written in ) William L 1883 joined the Army then reenlisted later under the name of Earl Lee. He was accused of stealing a horse. We think he felt he wouldn't get a fari trail. He changed his name and was never heard of again. Lily Mae 1885 married Charlie Boggs, Jacob G. 1886, George W. 1888 (refereed to as " General" ) Mary Ellen. 1890 Married Okey Knopp , Charles L 1893 Married Mabel Staats (there was a Gladys Tolley 10/06/1925 ) in my notes about this couple Otto M 1898 was placed in the Floyd Hively home ( Aunt Gurtie says he was mistreated by the Hivelys) and Nellie Jane Rhodes 1901 My mother). She married Edward Dewey Taylor
" Nannie" never married
