• Notes

  When the Madrid earthquak came December 1811, the Donoho and Weatherby families were living there. They lived in adjoining houses. The children were all playing together. The earth opened and swallowed one house. Which family perished is not now known but the remaining family gathered all the children and returned that day to Kentucky.
