| 1709 | !Dates for Eliz. and James Dunn's b. and d. acquired from newspaper article, "The Swinney Cemetery," in The Bloomf ield Republican, 16 Apr 1914. But there are so many discrepancies in the article it is difficult to know what to believe. At the time of publication (1914) there were a number of the Dunn's grandchildren living in the area; "John Pavey, of Burney, James S. Pavy, Forest Hill, Rev. W. A. Pavy, Covington, IN; Misses Susie a nd Minerva Pavy, who reside with their sisters, Misses Lizzie and Tillie Pavy, who are also grand-daughters and reside one and a quarter miles west o f Burney; Dorcus Pavy, now the widow of Phillip Gartin; Nannie Pavy, now Mrs. Daniel Harker, of near Hope , and Mrs. John Templeton, residing west of Greensburg on the Columbus pike." !James L. Gore records Elizabeth's dob as 1788. (Ltr of 2 0 Jul 1994) Bill Bentley records Elizabeth's DoB as Feb 1788; based upon her father's will and the census records of Decatur County, IN. He discounts the newspaper's obituary indicating Elizabeth was aged 106 at her death. (Ju ly 1998) From her obituary, her DoB calculates as 1 Feb 1782. ?? !"Mrs. James Dunn of this county, who died on Sunday morning and was buried Tuesday morning, 2 miles west of Burney , reached the remarkable age of 106 yrs., 11 mos., and 5 d ays. Notwithstanding the weight of years, the deceased retained the use of her faculties and enjoyed excellent health up to within a few months. She was born in Virginia but came to this county in 1831 and located upon the farm up on which she died and upon which she lived continuously . This property will pass to her granddaughter in consideration of her taking care of Mrs. Dunn in last years. The deceased was the mother of 4 children, but one of whom, Mrs. Jefferson Pavy, still lives , 24 grandchildren and 64 great grandchildren." (Greensburg New Era, Decatur County, IN; 9 Jan 1889 - quoted in Bill Bentley's "James Semore Swinney, Sr.") | Swinney, Elizabeth (I97)
