I am looking to connect my gggg grandfather, Fredrick/Fredrich Roth (later Rhoades/Rhoads, etc). I have very little info on him but what I have, of which abt 85% is verified, is below. I believe he was the oldest son or a nephew of Heinrich Roth but have not been able to prove any relationship thus far. The next ancesitor in that line was hios son Jacob Rhoads & Sarah Withers/Weathers (see below). The next generation was Jacob & Susan's son Joseph Rhoads who married Ann Spencer of the Spencer clan known for "Spencer's Mountain".::::According to family oral history, Frederick and his brother Joseph Roth came to America between 1730 - 1750 and settled in Pennsylvania. He later migrated with many other German families to North Carolina where he lived on the west side of Hoyle's Creek. His lands would later adjoin property owned by Jacob Hoffman II. Frederick is buried on the old home place there and his burial site is reportedly still known. I'd love to get a photograph of it! He also may have had a brother named Henry or Henri who was reportedly married to a Barbara Rhyne but this marriage has not been conformed nor has Henry being a brother of Fredrick & Joseph been confirmed.::::Fredrick's family name was Roth, which changed to Rhodes after coming to America - just like the clan you have listed on theis website. It is not known if he in fact, used the name Rhodes but it is proven his children did. Here's the info I have on Fredrick:::::Frederick Rhoads (Roth)::Bet. 1720/1725 in Germany::d. Bef. 1792 North Carolina::Buried on West side of Hoyle's Creek, North Carolina.::Unknown::m. Unknown::Occupation: Farmer::Parents: Unknown::Children: ::Henry Rhodes 9/2/1753 - 4/?/1830:: (m. Clara Hire 10/12

Searching for info on my RHODES & GARDNER lines. Also searching for any connections to these families. What information I have currently is listed below. I'm trying to find the father of Tandy Rhodes. On his marriage license his mother is listed as Emily Rhodes and no father is listed. ::::Tandy (b. Fluvanna Co)is the Rhodes ancestor I am trying to find. I really would like to find his father's name and those of his siblings. Below is what I have found on him so far. His name has been listed as Tandy Lee, Tandy Louis, and Tandy Lewis Rhodes. He had a son, Robert Louis Rhodes, who moved to NC (Cumberland Co) and married Louise Branch in 1914. :: ::TANDY L. RHODES was living with his brother, William; mother, Emily; and other siblings in 1880 in Fluvanna Co. :: Other Information: Birth Year 1857 ::Birthplace VA Age 23 ::Occupation Farm Laborer ::Marital Status S :: Race W ::Head of Household William RHOADES Relation Brother:: Father's Birthplace VA Mother's Birthplace VA ::::William RHOADES Self S Male W 33 Farmer ::Tandy L. RHOADES Brother S Male W 23 Farm Laborer ::Mariah RHOADES Sister S Female W 18 ::Mary L. RHOADES Sister S Female W 16 ::Enly (should be Emily) RHOADES Mother Female W 55 Keeping House :: ::Tandy Rhodes and Geneva Alice Gardner had several children besides Robert. After Tandy's death, Geneva (Jenny) remarried, but I don't know the name of her second husband. Part of the family later lived in Palmyra. :: :: Per the 1850 Albermarle Co census, BB and Lucinda GARDNER had the following children living with them: William (16), Horace (14), Walker (12), Parthena (8); Elijah(6), and Sidney(4). :: ::Horace GARDNER m. Mary J MALLORY in Albermarle C

I'm looking for proof of a Rhodes/Rhoades connection. For many years, it has been assumed that William Anderson married a Mary Magdalene Rhoades. Both were supposedly both born around 1800. Magdalene was supposed to have been born in Rockbridge County (according to the censuses). They and their children (Alfred, Allen, Alexander, George, Emily, Susanna, Anjeline and Rebecca) moved to Randolph County, VA/WV in late 1825, early 1826. William was supposed to have been born in Botetourt County (according to Alfred), and I noticed on the map of Botetourt near a William Anderson (bordering Rockbridge County), there is a Mattias Rhodes. Anyway, does anyone have any information on who this Mary Magdalene may be from if she is a Rhodes? William died in Webster County in 1859 (but it was reported in Braxton County), and Mary Magdalene died in 1876 in Webster County, WV. Any help would be appreciated!
