Jude Gaines resided in Sheffield , Berkshire Co MA. He enlisted as a private in the spring of 1776 under Captain Lathrop Allen's company, Col. Samuel Elmore's Connecticut Regiment. He was stationed at the German Flats in New York and was discharged at the last of April, 1777 (serving one year). He was allowed a pension upon his application executed April 27, 1818, at which time he was aged 73 years and resided in Sheffield MA. He died November 25, 1829, place not stated. (Nell McCoy Notes)
