!Born on the family farm east of LaFontaine, KS. Bill a n d Gertrude farmed at various locations around Buffalo, K S and about 13 years o n a farm south of Vilas, KS. In 193 5 they purchased at the southeast edge o f Buffalo where t hey lived out their lives. Bill was tall and slender wit h a pl easant disposition, loved horses, home made bread an d ice cream; and usually ke pt a jug of whiskey in the cor n crib for friends, neighbors and his numerous so ns-in-law . Gertrude was a marvelous cook, an affectionate wife an d mother an d a staunch Republican. Bill's death at home re sulted from an accident with the onl y tractor he ever owne d. (Bill Bentley)
