• Notes

  NOTE: The 1880 Census transcript on www.familysearch.org shows her as still living with her parents with the last name Rhodes, and shows her children as "Luri Rhodes" and "John T. Rhodes" with no mention of her husband John Slater. Also, the parent birth locations for the two children do not agree with Margaret's birth location, and lists Luri's mother's birth location as a blank. Could there be an error here? There are NO Slater's living in Fayette Co., IL in the 1880 Census. It would appear that either John died sometime in 1879 or early 1880 and Margaret reverted to her maiden name, or John & Margaret got a divorce and he lived somewhere else and Margaret reverted to her maiden name.
