Cavalry; enlisted on the 15th of Jan 1864 in Me rcer C ounty; promoted to Cpl. in Nov 1864; paroled at Char lesto n 11 May 1865 at age 31. (17 Virginia Cavalry; Nelso n Harri s, 1994) Cemetery: Eroded stone with faint initials: H.FG, born 1 8 28, died 20 Oct 1918; by L. W. Gore.
