  From Susie (Wheeler) Denton: My Dad, Ernest, lived in Morro Bay Ca. after his retirement. He loved to walk around this small town just to be with people. He had the most beautiful, genuine smile, and wonderful blue eyes.He had a great tan and wore a funny "Captain's" hat he had purchased from one of the touristy shops in town,on the Embarcadero. He would stop to talk with most anyone, but especially loved little kids. He would greet their parents, then stoop to say hi to the little ones.He had a regular route he took for his walk, which included a stop at the senior center for a round of pool, or another stop at the park for shuffle board. He always wore his hat and soon people began his nickname as "Captain". He loved it.
