  They were married by the Rev. Mr.Hall of Keene, N.H. who received a quantity of beans for the marriage fee. He was the first settler on the farm now owned by Elijah Gates, but removed to Windham, VT aboout 1800. Tradition tells us there were 14 children in this family, but the names of only two are found upon the town records.
