1920 census: Earl (11) is listed with his adoptive parents and their daughter (age 23).
1930 census: Earl Pruitt, age 23, textile worker, b NC, parents b NC, is listed as a prisoner in the Gaston County jail in Gastonia, NC. This is very near the SC line, directly on a main road from Anderson, SC. We do not know whether this was the Earl Prewitt to whom we are related.
