My opinion the best candidate for the parents of William Rhodes b. 1745 VA, d. 1825 OH
The parents of William Rhodes b. 1745 VA d. 1825 OH (see: http://carl.rhodesfamily.org/getperson.php?personID=I1&tree=Carls ) are unknown. Although, in my opinion the best candidate for his parents were John Rhodes b. ca. 1719, and Martha Sanford b. ca. 1720 both of Stafford County, Virginia. Their only only known child was Sanford Rhodes, born in 13 Dec 1746, in Overwharton Parish Stafford Co., VA. (William also had a son named Sanford). Martha died 7 Apr 1748 in Overwharton Parish, Stafford Co., VA. John was a constable in Fairfax County in the 1760s. He was also responsible for witnessing dozens of legal documents in the county during the same time period. In 1770 John was appointed as the sexton of Alexandria, Fairfax Co., VA. According to William Rhodes’ pension he enlisting in the army at Alexandria, Fairfax Co., VA in September 1775. John appeared not to have own any property of note in Fairfax County. No will or estate records have been found on John or Martha in Fairfax or Stafford Co., VA. Which could mean it may have been destroyed through time; he may have died in another county, or maybe he just died penniless.
