I know Gary Rhodes he has a junkyard on price town on Aplin Ridge he
is married to Patty Parsons daughter of Okey ans Nellie
Parsons.Curtus i don't think he is married but he might be by now
but about 17 years ago i don't think he was. But i grew up with most
of the boys Larry and Gary, Curtis, Kenneth were all a good bunch of
people they would help anyone every once in a while i go to Gary's
junk yard and talk to Gary.

Sometime looking at other members of a family will give new clues. Still
don't know if Robert and Margaret had any children.

Margaret McNutt b 1757 Palmer, Hampden, Massachusetts d 1830 Wabash, Ontario
md Robert Rhodes b bef 1757 d 1830
Margaret dau. Of John McNutt and Catherine Anderson. Md also Peter Phillips
b 7/22/1759 Kinderhook, Columbia NY

John McNutt migrated to American from Donegal County, Ireland about 1745 and
settled in Orange co. (now Rockbridge) VA on the North River about 6 miles
east of Lexington where he had grants of land from the govement. He married
Katherine Rebecca b 1735 Northern Ireland d 1814 Virginia, dau. Of Robert
Anderson and Catherine Graham of Killagonwen. The original name of McNutt
was McKnight, but they changed it when coming to America. John was the Gov
and Lt. Gov of Nova Scotia b abt 1720-1726 Ireland and d 1811 in Rockbridge
co. VA or 1781 South Caroline

Regarding the marriage - My mom said her dad (Thomas) was born in
1900, but her mom (Opal) was born in 1902. They had 5 children. Otta,
Garland (Bub), Jr - who died when he was 2, Betty (my mom) and a
sister stillborn. I'm not sure about the birth place for Thomas. I had
assumed it was Jackson Co. The children listed for William & Emma are
what I have also including Thomas, as my mother remembers those. When
Thomas & Opal were married, they lived in Parkersburg, WV. He worked
at the Vicose plant.

This is from "The History of Harper District" by M A. C. Hopkins.(b. 1856 written at age 75) It was published in 1929.
"The largest water grist mill in Harper District is the one near the mouth of Trace Fork built by Parrott Ferrell, now know as the Peter Rhodes mill. Peter Rhodes was born in Rockbridge County, Virginia in 1807. He was of German descent. He came to Ripley as a young man and married a Miss Board. He soon came to Harper District and boughnt the Ferrell mill. Here Mr. Rhodes spent the last days of his life. He was a great violinist and enjoyed many old tunes. He died at the age of 116 years. We had the pleasure of visiting Mr. Rhodes a few months before he died and it was very interesting to hear him relate many incidents of his long life."
Hopkins was postmaster at Red Knob and wrote many deeds and contracts. Later in the article his goes on to say:
Uncle Peter Rhodes told me a few months before he died that he built a log cabin here in the woods and sold it to a young man by the name of Noah Westfall.

Otis Weldon Rhodes m. Mavis Evadeen Anderson(living), Otis is the son of Henry
Rector Rhodes & Alice Westfall, Henry is son of Robert Riley Rhodes & Mary Ellen
Casto, Robert is the son of Peter Rhodes & Letha Board.



I have a Peter Rhodes that was married to a Letha Board in 1872 AND a Peter Rhodes married to a Letha Board in 1843. Did I totally mess this up or are there 2 Peter and Letha Board Rhodes?

I have been tring to find out more about Peter but have been unable
everyone that i have got in touch with says they have him going to
california but i do know he lived with Mathias for a while but that is
all but one time Spencer was called New California if anyone can help
on this it would mean a lot to me.

My grandfather had told me one time he had relatives that had went out
west to look for gold so that has me wandering to? Could be possible
then from what he said that his relative had made a machine that could
wash mountains down when he wrote a letter back to his people.

So this might have happened thanks for any help on this.

Charles Edward RHODES
Charles Edward RHODES, son of Gordon and Pheba RHODES was born May 17, 1894,
departed this life Aug 1, 1947, aged 53 years, 2 months and 14 days. He was
united in marriage to Winnie BOARD on Jan. 9, 1916 and to this union 12
children were born. One died in infancy, the rest survive, along with his
mother, Mrs. Pheba RHODES. (Jackson Herald, 15 Aug 1947)

Sue, the info I have is that Ores Albert's parents were Gordon Mead Rhodes
and Phebe Tuttle. Gordon's parents were William L. Rhodes and Rebecca
Rollins. I'm not sure if Joy has an e-mail or not, I can try to find out. I
am also related to Joy thru the Coons. My maternal great-grandparents were
William F. Ramsey & Electa M. Coon .

Hello and Thank you for the invite. I have a little info on the
following:

Delmer Rhodes and Joy Marie Coon - both are still living Delmer is my son's
father-in-law, he is the son of Ores Albert Rhodes 1915-2000 and Goldie
Eulala Parsons - living


I'm not sure when Delmer and Joy were married or divorced YET, but I can get
it. Delmer's second marriage and divorce was with Linda Lou Blankenship. At
this time Delmer is not married.
