Sue,
Could the grandchildren be the children of Samuel Rhodes and his 1st
wife,(unknown) later married Parthenia Vandyne? I have Louise b.1820 and
David b.1822 but the census has 2 females. Also Margaret Rhodes is on the
1850 Census living with Samuel and Parthenia at the age of 62.
Madaline also may have married, I can't find my info on this right now but
will try to find it.

Gene,
No, this isn't the right George III, my friend's name is Carolyn and
her husband George III is about 60 yrs old. I knew this couldn't be
that easy. I don't have much info on Kanawha Co. or Putnam Co. WV
as most of my family came from Jackson and Roane Co. WV. I will
send her a note and see if she or George can give me more info.
Thanks

In the matter of:

1. I have a copy of the bond and it is signed by James H Bailey and James
Bradley.
There is also a letter from Christopher Rhodes, signed in script and
witnessed by James
Bradley in script and by Benjamin Rhodes by mark. This letter ststes
"To the clerk of the county of zbotetourt:
This is to certify that I consent to a marriage between James H
Bailey
and my daughter Sarah T Rhodes. You will therefore have a
license directed to
some minister of the gospel that he may be authorized to unite
them in the estate
of matrimony"

dated 23 July 1832

4. This suggests that if elder could not write---she must have been
daughter of younger as this record is signed by Christopher and James
Bradley---Benjamin by mark

Help!!

On the 3. I think someone just put the Sara (Sarah) on there like so many
times we have found with Peter, Christopher, names. Probably they picked up
the Sarah T that married James H Bailey and thought it was the same person
as Nancy married to James Bradley. I have already changed my database
unless someone prove the Sarah in Nancy's name.

Subject: [Rhodes-History] Re: Rhodes - Bailey -Questions

I have been looking at all of this again and of course I have some
questions! Can anyone help with these?

1. On the marriage bond for Sara T. Rhodes and James H. Bailey does the b.
before the name of James Bradley stand for bondsman?

2. On the marriage bond Benjamin Rhodes is Witness. Ben Rhodes, son of
Christopher Rhodes and Catherine Peters, married Nellie Bradley. Is she the
sister of James Bradley?

3. What is the source for Nancy Rhodes first name being Sara? This would
be unusual for two daughters of Christopher and Catherine to have the same
first name. I know they sometimes did this when the dau died young, but
Sarah Elizabeth "Sukey" married (Archibald
Thomas) and had a family.

4. The marriage bonds for the children of the first Christopher, he made
his mark. Did his son Christopher make his mark or was he able to write?

Gene and Sue,
I asked for the info on the Good family, my friend married Geo. Good
III. She does not have e:mail so I will have to send snail mail to
her. This is just a hunch about him being related to this family
but....with that name, could this be that easy?
