The more I thank about it the more I think this John is part of Christopher/Christian family maybe a brother or else a cousin. I keep remember my grandfather telling me stories that came from Peter Rhodes and Elizabeth Rhodes Harper. My grandfather worked for Peter as a teenage and Elizabeth Rhodes Harper was his grandmother. I only wish I knew what I do today back when my grandfather was alive. I though the Harper had the tie to Massanetten, but it was the Rhodes. He would tell about
Christopher/Christian living alone for many years around the Natural Bridge in VA. He would tell about the Massanetten pioneers and the Indians in killing part of the family.

Have any of you all heard any stories as kids from some of your relations.

1727/8 Massanetten pioneers were John Roads

1764 Rev. John Roads (Mennonite preacher) wife Eve Albright (killed by

Mathias Crouse Sr. migrated south from Botetourt County, Virginia to Grainger County, Tennessee between 1800 to 1804. He purchased 40 acres of land in Grainger County from Jesse Christian on March 19, 1803. Jesse Christian had only obtained the 50 acres of land from which this 40 acres was taken the month before. He had purchased it from his father, Allen Christian. The land was located north of the Holston River on the "Spring Branch" next to Christian Rhodes's 5000 acre tract. The Spout Spring Branch of Richland Creek is located just to the East of Blaine and south of present day Hwy. 11. Mathias never purchased any other land in Grainger County and lived there the rest of his life.
