The Jobs Of Yesteryear: Obsolete Occupations with Photos

My daughter emailed me about an interesting web site from the National Public Radio web site (http://www.npr.org/). As computers and automated systems increasingly take the jobs humans once held, entire professions are now extinct from milkman to telegrapher, from people who once filled those oft-forgotten jobs.”

The Wonderful World of Early Photography.

Here is a link to the early history of photography and photographs by Alex of Neatorama.com. It show some of the early photographs dating back over 180 years ago. Also, it shows the first motion picture (1872) by Eadweard Muybridge. You can see examples of early and unique photographic equipment. You may find it very interesting.

New Rhodes Forum and Guest-Book

I have recently encountered errors in the Rhodes Family Guest-book. Unfortunately, the guest book script is no longer supported by it’s developer, so I am unable to repair it. Therefore I have installed a new genealogy forum and guest book. One advantage to this new site is that you can reply to someone’s post, and there are other new features that are very useful. So, I encourage you to post you queries, and wish you the best of luck.

All the best,
Carl

A newly discovered blog: Civil War Memory

Kevin Levin is a High School History Teacher and Civil War Historian. For the last three years he has been writing the blog ?Civil War Memory?.

In 2007 Kevin’s blog was honored with the Cliopatria Award for Best Individual Blog.

The following is about ?Civil War Memory? in Mr. Levin own words: ?I blog about subjects related to how Americans have chosen to remember and commemorate their Civil War. Topics cover a range of issues from Civil War historiography to issues in public history and the teaching of history on the high school level. To get a better sense of the range of topics covered on this site I highly recommend browsing the archives by category or by individual tags. You can also take advantage of the ?Related Posts? feature, which can be found at the end of individual posts and before the comments section.?
