    The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas there is a marriage shortly intended to be esteminized between the above bounded Christophber Rhodes & Catherine Peters daughter of Jonas Peters Decd.

    If thereforethere shall be no lawful cause to the same then this obligation to be void or else remain in full force.

    Christoph Rhodes' last will & Testament
    In the name of God, Ame. I Christopher Rhodes of the County of Jacko in the state of Virginia being of sound mind and meory butbeing weak in body and calling to mind the uncertainty of human life and wishing to make a proper distribution and arrangement of such worldly good as I am possessed of do make publish and declare this my last will and testament in maner and form folling that is I say.

    I will and desire that my funeral expenses shall be first paid but if my two daughters now linving with me Polly Rollins and my single daughter Sophia shall settle the expenses attending my funeral and burial then I will and bequeath to my said two daughters all my estate both real and personal of every kind and description considering as I conscientiouly do that I do not owe anything to any man on earth and therefore deem it unnescessary to make any arrangement or provision for the payment of debts. But in making the above bequest to my said two daughters I desire that the estate thus devised shall remain the property of my said two daughters and not subject to the control of or bleable: for the debts of Watson Rollins, the husband of Polly Rollins or the husband of Sophia if she should here after marry. Nor is it my desire to interfere with the dower right of my beloved wife Catharine who I will and desire shall receive her legal share of all my estate.
    Lastly I nominate and appoint my friend R. R. Riley executor of this my last will and testament and hereby revoking all to give bond and security uipon gualifing as such ex

    to John W. Tygret of Rockbridge County, VA. Tract of land in Gap
    Run in Arnolds Valley containing an estimated 80 acres.
    Consideration of $150.00.

    Beginning at two white oaks and a hickory in Arnolds old line,
    South 8 deg, East 98 poles to three white oaks,
    South 55, East 120 poles to a white oak and maple by a rock,
    North 55, East 100 poles crossing the gap run to 2 white oaks,
    North 60 deg, West 210 poles crossing said run to the beginning.

    acres in Rockbridge County, VA.

    With Lyle's line South 33 deg, West 175 poles to a white oak corner to sd. Lyle,
    With Alexander McCluer's line, South 69 deg, East 153 poles to a small white
    oak corner to sd. McCluer.
    North 23 deg, East with Joseph Russell's line 164 poles to a stake near a






    walnut and white oak corner to James Dougherty.
    With Doughterty's line, North 69 deg, West 125 poles to the beginning.

    The Commonwealth of Virginia to Robert White and John McCleland Gentlemen
    Justices of Rockbridge County.
    George Rhodes and Susanna his wife sold 7 September 1812 to Philip Keller 150
    acres in Rockbridge County. Susanna cannot conveniently travel to the
    Courthouse to make acknowledgement of the deed. The aforementioned justices are
    to go to Susanna and privately examine her separate and apart from her husband.
    She was privily examined and acknowledged that she freely and voluntarily
    without persuasion or threats make the indenture.
    Dated 7 September 1812.
