Lieutenant Elisha Hunt Rhodes
Born: March 21, 1842, Pawtuxet Village, Cranston, Rhode Island.
Died: January 14, 1917, age 74.
Elisha
Hunt Rhodes was educated at the Fountain Street Grammar School and at Potter and
Hammond’s Commercial College in Providence, Rhode Island.
He enlisted June 5, 1861, and entered the service as a private of Company D,
with the 2nd Rhode Island Volunteers.
Elisha Hunt Rhodes participated in every campaign with the Army of the Potomac
from Bull Run (July 1861) to Appomattox (April 1865). At Gettysburg, he was
first lieutenant, of the 2nd Brigade, and 3rd Division, of the 6th Corps.

Rhodes
Mason: Elisha Rhodes was a Member and Worshipful Master of Harmony Lodge, #9,
Cranston, Rhode Island. He was also the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Rhode
Island in 1892-1893.
